Description
A simple and delicious recipe for homemade strawberry jam using Sure Jell fruit pectin. Perfect for preserving fresh strawberries and enjoying them all year round.
Ingredients
Scale
- 5 cups crushed strawberries (fresh and ripe for the best flavor)
- 7 cups sugar (granulated white sugar works perfectly)
- 1 box Sure Jell Original Fruit Pectin (the secret to perfect consistency)
- 1 teaspoon butter (optional, but helps reduce foaming during cooking)
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine the crushed strawberries and Sure Jell. Stir well to ensure the pectin is evenly distributed.
- Place the saucepan over high heat and bring the mixture to a full rolling boil, stirring constantly to prevent sticking.
- Once boiling, add the sugar all at once. Stir continuously and return the mixture to a rolling boil for exactly 1 minute.
- After 1 minute, remove the saucepan from the heat. Skim off any foam that forms on the surface using a spoon.
- Ladle the hot jam into sterilized jars for canning or freezer-safe containers for storage. Let the jars cool before sealing.
Notes
- For best results, use fresh, ripe strawberries.
- Store finished jam in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks or freeze for longer storage.
